Carrollton is a city located in both Dallas and Collin County, Texas. It is a suburb of the City of Dallas. In 2005 the approximate population of Carrollton was 122,699. In 2006, Carrollton was named as one of America's Top 100 Places to Live by Relocate America. In 2006, Money magazine named Carrollton as the 19th best place to live in the United States. In 2008, Money Magazine named Carrollton the 15th best place to live among small cities.
Carrollton was officially incorporated in 1913. In 1950, Carrollton had a population of 1,610. In 1960, Carrollton’s population grew to 4,242. In 1970, the population was 13,855. Carrollton grew significantly between 1970 and 1980 because of the people coming out the urban areas. . By 1983, Carrollton’s population was 52,000. In 1990, it had reached 82,169, and in 2000 it was 109,576.
