In 2009, Collin County’s population rose to approximately 791,631, which makes it one of the fastest growing counties in the United States. The county seat of Collin County is McKinney, Texas. Both the county and the county seat are named after Collin McKinney, who is one of the five men who drafted Texas’ Declaration of Independence.
Collin County is considered to be part of the Dallas- Fort Worth Metroplex. A small part of the city of Dallas is located in Collin County. Some other notable cities in Collin County are: Frisco, Plano, Allen, Richardson, McKinney, Wylie and Murphy.
