Lewisville is a located in Denton County, Texas. In 2010, Lewisville had a population of 95,290. Lewisville is considered one of the oldest cities in the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex. Lewisville dates back to the early 1840s. In the 1970’s, Lewisville remained a small rural town with a population of a few thousand. In 1910, Lewisville’s population was 1,000 and rose to 1,400 in 1920. The population was 853 from 1920-1930, and it was the fourth most populous county in Denton County. The population dropped as people began to move into the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex. In 1960, Lewisville began to rapidly grow when the city adopted a home-rule charter for a Council-Manager style of municipal government. At that time, Lewisville became one of only home-rule cities in Texas with a population of less than 5,000.

In 1969, Lewisville hosted the Texas International Pop Festival on Labor Day weekend. The event was only thirteen days after the Woodstock Festival. The Lewisville festival had over 250,000 rock and jazz fans and it featured musical artists such as Janis Joplin, B.B. King and Led Zeppelin.

In 1971, the Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport opened to the south of the Lewisville. In 1989, Vista Ridge Mall opened at the intersection of Interstate 35E and Round Grove Road. It was during this time that Lewisville began to experience rapid suburban growth. Over the years Lewisville has continued to grow: In 1980 Lewisville increased in size to 24,273; 1990 to 46,521; 2000, to 77,737; 2010 to 95,290.
